It’s the last day of PRIDE for 2020. To me PRIDE is the freedom to be who I am and live my life in a way that esteems my values of equality, respect and joy. Today, Google honors Marsh P. Johnson who was a prevalent figure during the Stonewall Uprising of 1969. Her voice was a driving force of the “Gay Liberation” movement that began and thusly led to PRIDE as we know it today.

Celebrating Marsha P. Johnson

For those of you who aren’t familiar with how PRIDE started, here are a few resources.

Additionally, PBS has an episode of American Experience. The predominate narrative is around gay men and lesbians, but let’s not forget that Drag Queens & Trans Women of color led the way for all of us to celebrate the freedoms that we have gained.

Happy & safe PRIDE!
