Madison’s First LGBTQ Comedy Show Celebrates One Year with Jonny McGovern

Madison, WI ­ June 24, 2015

Madison’s first LGBTQ stand­up comedy show Alphabet Soup is will celebrate its one year anniversary in July with funny man Jonny McGovern. McGovern is best know for Logo TV’s “Big Gay Sketch Show”, his talk show “Hey Qween!” and recording provocative and racy pop songs heard in gay bars around the world.

“I’m so excited to be celebrating Alphabet Soup’s one year. When it started I wasn’t quite sure if Madison was ready for queer comedy, but it keeps getting better each month.” Martinez admits.

The show runs every third Friday of the month at Plan B, 924 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53704

Alphabet Soups’ one year celebration will be July 17th at 7:30pm and will also include Chicago comedians Ali Clayton & Adam Guerino.

The show is FREE but table reservations may be made for a $50 donation to fund the webseries “The Misadventures of Delilah James” which will be filmed in Madison beginning September 2015. To reserve tables email booking(at)

More about the producer: ​Dina Nina Martinez. Martinez is a transgender standup comedian and actor from LA who currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin. Her signature blend of disarming sass and charm has been featured in comedy festivals and multiple world class comedy venues including LA Pride, The Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, LA’s The Comedy Store and Chicago’s Zanies Comedy Club. She is the creator and host of Madison’s first and only queer comedy show Alphabet Soup, “The D Word” podcast, and the forthcoming The Dina Martinez Show. She was recently named one of the “40 Hot Queer Women In Comedy” by Though LA was cute and she’s certainly got fabulousness to spare, Martinez’s long term goals are to settle down and be a soccer mom.
